Format text string in Jira Custom Field (ISBN Style)

I need a textfield in Jira to format the input in ISBN style:

e.g. ISBN 978-3-12-732320-7

Best solution would be

• in edit/create mode it just shows the numbers e.g. 9783127323207
• in view mode it shows an ISBN type string e.g. ISBN 978-3-12-732320-7

How can this be done? Any suggestions?
