Fix Versions Approvers option

Not sure if this feature has been here for some time but I only recently noticed the "Approvers" option in Fix Versions. 

I tried it, but it seem to not send any notification?  Has anyone tried it? Thinking of using this for release management approvals. THanks.

It is not exactly what you are looking for but I believe that one of our apps might be helpful for your case: Release management  (DC Version) 

In the application you could be able to define a release workflow:

for each workflow step, we can define approvers (in addition to other validation rules):

Also, various notification rules could be configured by using release automation inside the app. The notification could be sent by release data change, status change etc.

The messages could be sent via email, Slack, MS Teams.

The feature already there but unfortunately you can't block the release on the approvers actions or sending notification to them
