Is there a way to have a field that shows which board/s an issue appears on?
We find it hard to know where to find the location when we have multiple boards on a project.
No, there is no such field.
An issue is not "on" a board. A board is just a way to visualize and manipulate issues. Boards are based on filters that select the issues to display. The filter for a board could be modified, boards can be deleted and added, and the issue data could be modified, so the inclusion of an issue in the display of a particular board could change at any time.
In Jira Server there was an option that could be accessed from an issue that provided links to the boards where it displayed. That doesn't appear to be available in Jira Cloud, but there is a change request to which you can add your vote:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17107
If you have multiple boards for your project, how are you segregating issues between boards? Could you modify the board naming conventions to make it more clear which boards should display which issues?
Thanks for the link, I have voted for this to be brought back to Jira Cloud.
I think of issues being 'on' boards but not 'in' boards. To your point a board is a visualization.
