JIRA doesn't do that in the way most people mean it, but there are a couple of options. Y
ou can easily make fields read-only by removing them from the edit screens and moving their updates into the workflow and allowing only certain users to use that part of the flow.
- Or you can get into direct implementations of specific field locking in-place. The two I'd use to do it are "Behaviours", which is part of the Script Runner add-on (disclosure, I work for Adaptavist, so feel free to see me as biased on that one. I would have suggested Behaviours even before I started to work here).
- The Field security add-on from Quisapps
There may be others, but I've not used them.
