Export filter output to CSV does not export all the rows

LV November 5, 2024

Hi,

I created a filter. That filter returns 73 issues.

When I export it to "CSV (Filter Fields)", the export has only 65 rows.

The filter fields are the following ones: Type, Key, Summary, Parent, Status.

When I export as "CSV (my default)", all 73 issues are present.

What could be the problem ?

Cheers,

@LV If Excel fails to correctly import the CSV file, you could export a native XLSX file from Jira using the Better Excel Exporter app. It will be correctly imported as there is no conversion involved in the process.

(Discl. it is a paid and supported app developed by our team. Free for 10 users!)

I can't give at a try. I'm not admin.

Hi @LV , that strikes me very odd. The fields (columns) chosen for the export should have no impact on the issues (rows) exported. Have you look closely at the issues that are not exported to see if there's any clue? Could you ask someone else to attempt the export?

Well, I checked the raw CSV file. And indeed all the rows are present in the file. The issue is when opening the file with Excel.

There is one issue that the export puts on two lines. Apparently there is some kind of carriage return in one of the issue summary which causes that issue to be broken on two lines in the csv file.

For some reason, with that columns configuration (and not with the default columns configuration), Excel aggregates that second-line with 8 other issues in a single cell.

Hence the apparently missing issues when looking at the file in Excel.

Have you tried google sheets?

@Jack BrickeyGoogle Sheets opens the file correctly. Clearly an issue between what Jira exports and how Excel interprets it.
