Having a "Team managed project" the Epic link is not shown when using the Issues view. It is not shown in the new view and when I switch "Go to advanced search" I can add the field "Epic Link", but there is no content shown.

In the backlog all Stories have assigned an Epic. So the column should not be empty. Is this a bug? Or how can I see the "Epic link" in a "Team managed project"?

Hello @Tomas Huber

Welcome to the community.

Epic Link is not used in the issues in the Team Managed projects. Instead, the parent Epic Issue Key is stored in the Parent field. And this field is not displayed in the issue view like Epic Link is displayed in issues for Company Managed projects. Instead, the parent issues (parents of Sub-tasks, and parent Epics of issues) are shown at the top of the screen in the Issue Key bread crumbs.

@Trudy Claspill
Thanks for your answer! My problem is solved using the field "Parent". Thanks for the hint!

@Trudy Claspill

I am seeing the same behavior with company managed project. Is that expected or it is supposed to be for the Team managed project only?

Hello @Narasimha Murthy Jalla

Please note that the original post and my response are 3 years old

Since then Atlassian has made many changes. Specific to this topic they started a transition from the use of the Epic Link field to using the "Parent" field in both Team Managed and Company Managed projects. They automatically added the "Parent" field to any screen that showed the "Epic Link" field, and they display messages whenever one tries to make a new use of the "Epic Link" field.
