Does importing issues from another system with attachment requires to host attachment somewhere?

Hello everyone,

Does importing issues with attachments from another system requires to host these attachments somewhere?

What happens after the import is done. Do I still need to host these attachments or will be they added to my Jira cloud instance storage space?

For a bit more context, we are using Jira/Jira Service Desk Cloud and we want to migrate Defects/Change Requests from HP ALM to Jira/Jira Service Desk Cloud but it requires to migrate attachments for all tickets in HP ALM.

Thanks for your help!

Gabriel

HI Gabriel,

Yes, as you suspected the attachments need to be hosted and externally visible to be accessible by the Jira instance to be able to import the attachment.

Post import the Images no longer need to be hosted externally as the images are copied to the new location on the Jira instance.

Additional details can be seen in "Importing attachments into JIRA Cloud applications using CSV files"

Regards,
Earl
