We still use jira with 25 users but do not need more than 5 to 10 users with bonfire. Does the bonfire starter lic fits with a larger jira instance or do we need the same number of users in both?

Your Bonfire and JIRA user licences must match, so for a 25 user JIRA licence you will need a 25 user Bonfire licence.

The licensing is ridiculous. If you have a test team of 4 but you have a user base of 100, the bonfire license must match the jira license. Only 4 users will ever be using the bonfire test component so whats the point of buying the extra licenses.

The licensing should work similar to Confluence-Jira where you can tell confluence only use the users of a particular group.

Hi Jeffery,

In addition to providing specific features for test teams, Bonfire is also a tool for enabling everyone involved in the development process, including developers, managers, stakeholders, users and customers to contribute to improving quality. Bonfire licences are matched to JIRA licences for this reason.

Customers have told us that introducing Bonfire has achieved this, as well as fostering greater collaboration between testers and non-testers. However if Bonfire's current features aren't providing enough value for your circumstances, we'd be grateful for any suggestions you may have on improving them.

You can raise feature requests and improvements directly in Bonfire's JIRA project here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/BON

Hi Andrew, thanks for the response and explanation of the licensing for Bonfire. I believe that the bonfire licensing needs to be more flexible.

We want to buy more JIRA licenses, but are now hesitant simply because we need to buy more licenses for Bonfire for the JIRA equivalent. Hence we are going the API route to provide access to our clients ( 800+ ). In the end Atlassian is losing out on 800+ JIRA licenses.

Hi Jeffery,

Large numbers of external clients is an interesting scenario. I'm interested to learn more about your use case so we can take it into future consideration i.e. are you using JIRA as a helpdesk as well as issue tracking etc. You can email me at aprentice @ atlassian.com if you'd like to discuss further.

Yes!

We've 500 on Confluence, 25 on Jira and now - as there has been no other possibility - 25 on Bonfire.
