Do bitbucket only users count also as jira users when authentication is linked?

Hi,

We delegate Bitbucket Server user and group management to our JIRA server.   If we add a user in JIRA to get access only to Bitbucket, will it also count as a JIRA user?

Versions:

Atlassian Bitbucket v4.10.1

Atlassian JIRA Project Management Software (v7.2.3

Thanks,

-dkw

Maybe.  As it depends on what you have set up.

Each application separately has a rule for "who can log in to this application".  If someone can log in, they count as a user of that application.  The easy case is that you set up each application separately, so that "people in jira-users can log into jira", "people in confluence-usres can log into confluence", people in "bb-users can log into bitbucket", then they are neatly separated.  The applications don't actually care if a user belongs to other groups, they only look at their own.

I think that is what you are looking for.  If, in JIRA, you add a user to bb-user and nothing else, then they will be able to use bitbucket, and they will count against that licence limit.  But they are not in jira-users, so they will not count towards your JIRA user count.
