Displaying Epic hierarchy

Hi Everyone, one of the main reasons we migrated to Jira was the visuals to organise our team meetings. I was wondering if there's a way to view the whole hierarchy (epic -> story -> task -> subtasks)? In the Roadmap, I can only see the Epic and stories, even if the stories have child issues.

I thought we could see a hierarchical view of the whole process but I can't find a way to display our projects that way.

Thanks for any advice!

Hi @Hernan Caceres ,

This is only possible with Advanced Roadmaps, which is a Jira Software Cloud Premium feature.

Or you can use an App such as Structure https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/34717/structure-flexible-jira-project-management?hosting=cloud&tab=overview or Panorama https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1219417/panorama-hierarchy-structure-for-jira?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

With out of the box features, there is no one and single view where to see the total breakdown.

Have a nice day!

Hi @Hernan Caceres

Welcome to the community !!

As an alternative, you can also try out the app my team built.

Issue Hierarchy Reports

Key features of the app are as follows:

  • Epic Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up for standard Jira hierarchy. Epic -> User Story/Task -> Subtask
  • Links/Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps Hierarchy :- View/Manage roll up for hierarchy (up to 10 levels), based on your Portfolio/Advanced Roadmaps/Issue Links parent child relationship.
  • Progress % on "remaining estimate" or "original estimates"
  • Edit Issue summary, time estimates, story points and assignee on the tree with real time updates in the progress
  • Rolled up percentage completion at all levels
  • Ability to add/remove the columns on the report

Hi @Hernan Caceres

welcome to the community!

Just for future reference, the issue hierarchy you're looking for is also available with one click in the app that my team is working, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing and inline-editing all your issue fields, including a number of "special fields" that aren't otherwise available (like "time in status"). It also comes with a number of advanced features such as support for issue hierarchies (built in or custom), issue grouping, sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

This is how it look in action:

Best,

Hannes
