Hi, I need support from the community. I cloned a task and need to delete a few of the child issues that are associated with it, listed as subtasks. If I do that, will they be deleted from the original place, the task I used to clone this one? Or can I just do a bulk edit and delete them without any issues?

@Maria Alexandru

Welcome to the Atlassian Community,

When you clone the task which has the subtask then it only clone the task not the subtask.

So the Clone issue will not have the subtask.

If you see the subtask which is clone subtask then there should not be any issue with original one after deletion. it will delete only clone one.

Before deleting clone subtask just confirm its clone not original

Accept the answer if it helps

Hi Maria - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

You should be very careful with deleting any issues. You should probably just use a status like Discarded or Aborted or something like that instead of deleting.

If you delete an issue, it is gone from EVERYWHERE with no access to get it back. That's the reason for the warning against deleting things.

But deleting the issue will not affect the parent it is associated with.

Are using Jira Cloud or the on prem Server version?
