Delete or Archive? confirmation now required to delete

Suddenly our projects require confirmation by typing "delete" before deleting every single jira issue on our project boards. Was this a change pushed by Atlassian? Anyone know how to disable?

Hi @Jeanne Schock

There is currently an experiment that some Jira Cloud sites are a part of called "Issue Deletion 2-step process".  I believe this experiment is responsible for the change in deletion behavior here.

If this change poses a problem for you, please create a support case with us and request to opt-out of this experiment.  I'm confident our team will want to capture any feedback you might have about this change, but with a support case support should be able to revert the effects of this experiment at least for the time being.

Hello @Jeanne Schock ,

Good day! :)

The 2 step deletion process is a part of Atlassian experiment to make the issue-delete process a two-step flow, instead of earlier one-step process, This feature will allow users to type delete in a checkbox to delete an issue, or the users will also have the option to archive the issue instead. This is mainly aimed at reducing accidental deletions of issues as issues are not recoverable once deleted, as they get deleted from backend database as well.

If you are looking to opt out from this experiment, you can reach out to Atlassian support and they will look into it.

Thank you!

Hi @Jeanne Schock , thanks for your post. I also noticed this today.

I don't see anything about this in the documentation about how to delete https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/delete-an-issue-from-your-list/

I'm going to escalate this post to Atlassian Support to see what they say

Cheers
