Defect tickets failing to show Story Point field

We have configured our tickets to never hide the Story Point field. Story's Task's Epic's, Bug's TD, Spike and Defect use the same Issue layout, however Defect does not show the Story Points field while the others do...

is there a way to force Jira to reload the issue Layout..?

What type of project are we referring to, team or company managed?

Do all issues use the same screen scheme or does this differ?

Field show based at first if available on the screen scheme and screens used in the scheme by the issue type.

The issue layout is used when to show a certain field or hide it if it is on a screen.

So check what screen scheme the issue type Defect is using and the screens used in that screen scheme, is Story Point on those screens?
