Dashboard > Sprint burndown chart > sub task rollup
The story point in the task is listed as 0.
Storypoints are listed in subtasks.
Since the burndown chart is based on tasks, the desired view cannot be displayed.
When will summing subtask story points be supported in the burndown chart?
gemini says it's available in 10.2, but I can't find it.
1. Is there a support plan?
2. Is there a chart or method to look at it another way?
Because I am a foreigner, my English is not good.
Thank you in advance for your reply.
Hi @김상현 ,
No worries about the English - you explained rather well. I do not believe there are any plans to change the behaviour of the burndown chart in this area, as this is a design choice based on agile practices.
You should consider a task (or story) as something that needs to be delivered as a whole to provide value to the customer. Subtasks may help to split the task in smaller pieces that can be worked on by different people simultaneously, but as long as not all sub-tasks are complete, there is nothing you can deliver to your customer. And so the value you deliver to your customer during your sprint equals 0 (zero). That is what the metric represents.
As a best practice, don't put story points on sub-tasks. Put them on the level above to measure the value you delivered. And for your own teams, don't use velocity as a metric of the amount of work/time that was spent, but as a metric of value delivered to the customer.
Hope this helps!
Hi @김상현,
A solution to this would be our Great Gadgets app, which offers Sprint Burdown Burnup Chart gadget, Release Burdown Burnup Chart gadget as well as Team Velocity Chart gadget that have an option to include the sub-tasks in the calculation. So, a complete solution that will solve your problem.
The gadget offers a Data tab with a sprint report, which includes the sub-tasks.
