My team administrates Jira, and we've had users requesting a "dark mode" of Jira to prevent digital eye strain. Does anyone know of any plug-ins or existing functionality to do this?
The only plug-in I was able to find on the marketplace was Dark Theme - if anyone's currently using this one, what are your thoughts?
For reference, we are on Jira Data Center version 8.20.6

As a slight digression, one organisation I work with, a sight problem company, is currently saying that dark themes are now the leading cause of eye-strain in their customers, and they strongly recommend people swapping back to more clear and contrasted colour themes when they start to show signs of eye-strain.
But you're right, there are no dark themes for Jira, but the app you've found di=oes do the job. But I'd strongly recommend that you tell your people to look for browser extensions instead - they are going to give them a more consistent experience across many sites, which is better for the eyes.
Browser extensions ?
Can you please that a bit more so that I can enable dark mode for my jira .
And one more question is this user specific or global ?

I'm not sure how I can expand on "browser extensions".
A browser extension is a fragment of code that an individual can add to their browser to modify or enhance the way their browser works.
As an example, I'm mostly using Vivaldi on my machines, because it works well for me. But I've added extensions such as "privacy badger" (to help me be more secure when browsing), "Grammarly" (to help me when my writing is becoming less clear"), and "Clacks overhead" (tells me when a website is owned by someone who is a fan of one of my old friends). Probably the most relevant one to this conversation is that I have "Stylus" installed. It lets me inject my own, or override crap, CSS that doesn't work for me on any website. (I've only set it up for about five sites. Three of my snippets just hide nagging messaging, the other two turn off "dark mode" on sites that do it so badly that they've made themselves unreadable to me. I understand why people want dark mode, but it is important to understand that it causes eye-strain in a lot more people than you think, and should always be a personal choice - never inflict it on people, even by default)
To get a dark Jira, you are going to need to use something like stylus - a browser extension, something you choose to install on your machine, not on the Jira server.

Finally, Atlassian has released the dark theme feature in Jira and here is how you can activate it.
Profile -> Personal Settings -> Light and dark themes-> Switch the toggle on -> Select Dark
