Custom readonly field is blanked out on edit

I have a custom field in which my workflow sets the value of it. As expected it is visible on the issue screen and not on the edit screen.

However, I am having a problem in that when that issue is edited and saved the custom readonly field get's blanked out.

I can't seem to figure out why or how this is happening. Any ideas?

The custom field I was using was an outdated one from a plugin I was using. The Plugin developer has since removed the field and I have changed my custom field to use the correct one and now everything works.
