Creating a monthly report for clients from a Kanban and Tempo

We're a web development agency that's branched out into broader content creation and marketing services. We use Jira, Tempo and Kanban boards to track our clients (Projects) various jobs (Issues) we're doing for them, often on retainer.

How do I create a monthly report to send to clients that shows how much time per Issue we've done for them that month?

As an added complication, some jobs we do for them fall out of the retainer so it's important to be able to deselect some of them for the final report.

Full disclosure, I'm very new to Jira in general and had minimal training for it!

Hi @Tom Pleasant

The best way to do this is is by creating a JIRA filter that includes all relevant issues that you want to include in your report.

To do this, create a JIRA filter that includes the issues (https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/save-your-search-as-a-filter/).

Then use this filter in Tempo, Reports.
To do this, select "Jira filters (JQL)" in the "Filter by" field. You can then group the Report by "Issue" to see the number of worklog made on issues in the filter. Please note that this report will only show issues that work has been logged on in the selected period.

This report can then be exported.

Please take a look at https://help.tempo.io/cloud/en/tempo-timesheets/generating-reports/filtering-the-data-in-reports.html for more information.

That's very helpful. Thank you, Susanne!

In addition to that what Susanne said, and if you need more flexibility for your reports you could use Exply to create very custom analytics based on your Jira and Tempo data and as a special feature also add other data sources to it :)

Let me know what you think or if you need help in this regard :)

sincerely

Fabian from Exply :)
