When I login to the Global Permissions and go to Add Permission in the drop down I do not have the option to add Create Shared Object. Is there a setting that needs to be changed so that the share object permission can be added?

In trying to create shared boards our team can only create independent projects and not shared boards.

I gave access to the public for this permission in my cloud demo instance and I still get the error trying to create a board for a project that I am the administrator and creator for...

Hey @Gurpreet

I do not see any permission named "Create Shared Objects", neither do I see "Manage dashboard" or "Shared filter", when I go to the permission scheme of that project shown on the screenshot, however, the user confirmed to me that they actually do see the "Create board" button.

Could you please elaborate and explain a bit more how does this permission work?

Why am I unable to see it in that project's permission scheme?

Is there a way to see how and who granted that permission to which group?

Kind regards,

Svetlin

Hi @Svetlin ,
The Share Dashboards and Filters permission is a global setting in Jira. It should be assigned to users or groups who need to administer the board as a Board Admin. This permission must be granted by a Jira Admin.

If you create a board via Boards (in header) > Manage Board, you will not be able to share it, unless you have this permission global permission.

If you create the board via the methods below, you do not need the this global permission to share the board:

  • Creating a project (where a board is created for the project by default)
  • Setting up Jira Software for the first time (where you're prompted to create a project, which also creates a board for the project)
  • Copying a board (the copied board will be shared with the same users as the original board)

Additionally, please refer to the Board Usage section of the reference link for the project permission to manage the issue in the board.

I hope it helps.
