Hello
I have a rule where I'm trying to copy the components from parents to children.
It works from Epic to Task, it does not work from Theme to Epic.
In the epic I add the parent link (which is the theme) and the rule seem to skip this part completely,
starts with "when - Issue created"
moving to
If: matches
Issue type equals Epic.
and if so, I edit the issue fields,
I choose the components field to set with a "copy component/s from parent issue".
when I create a new epic and assigh the theme in the parent link section, the epic is created, just without the component.
What am I missing here?
Thank you in advance :-)
Hi @John Dorian,
Where are your parent issues stored? Are they in the same Jira project as your epics or are they in a different project?
Since components are specific to a Jira project, I can imagine that copying components from a parent issue would not work, since they may not exist in the project your epics are in. But that's just an educated guess of the most likely cause.
Hope this helps!
Hi Walter
The issues are in the same project - both the theme and the epic.
The rule is "copy from parent" - maybe this is the problem? is there another action I should choose if I wish to copy a componen from a theme to an epic? in the epic, the parent link field contains the theme identifier.
Thanks again for your help
