We are a software development company.  We are trying to connect Novelty's Jira Project with a client of ours HPS Jira account.  Is there away to be able to connect both Jira's so we can both see the same project in each of our environments?  We are having to do double work to update two of the same project.

Hi @Bryan Bott and welcome to the Community!

This is a scenario that pops up ever more frequently. You cannot simply make the work of both different instances visible as if they were one, but there are several solutions out there that allow you to sync corresponding issues across, so updates on one end reflect in the other.

Options you could have look at include:

Hope this helps!

@Bryan Bott hi there. I'll just add another option for you to look up - ZigiOps (you can find it in the Atlassian Marketplace).

It;s a fully no-code integration solution that does not store any of your data, easily connects and syncs your Jira instances (allowing teams to have access to the same info - boards, in your case). It connects the systems bi-directionally and you can tweak it to fit various use case scenarios. Have a look at ZigiOps Jira integrations. You can even test it via the Free Trial

Regards, Diana (ZigiOps team)

Hi @Bryan Bott

As Walter mentioned above, in the case of two different Jira instances you will need a synchronization tool to keep the information flow between the separate teams in real-time.

Most of the synchronization apps let you trigger automatic issue creation so that when a new issue is created in Project A, a corresponding issue is created in Project B.
Not only can such plugin copy the existing information from A to B but it also ensures that the two linked issues are kept in sync throughout their lifecycle.
This includes changes in the field values, status transitions, adding comments, attachments and more.

If you aim to reduce the manual overload, I encourage you to give them a try as they can be tested for 30 days for free.

Good luck with finding the perfect solution for you!

Disclaimer: I'm part of the team responsible for one of these apps - Issue Sync Pro.

Does the software have to be installed on both environments?  Or can my instance be the only one that has the software?

@Bryan Bott - according to my knowledge Issue Sync Pro has to be installed on both sides.

I'm part of the team behind Backbone Issue Sync and we've just released today a feature for the Cloud (Remote License) which allows connecting to a Jira Cloud instance which does not have the app installed. Let us know if you need a trial license for that.
