Configure JIRA's SMTP mail server for notifications

jason ballantyne October 2, 2012

Hi,

I'm trying to setup outgoing mail from JIRA but I can't determine how to do this according to:

https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA051/Configuring+JIRA%27s+SMTP+Mail+Server+to+Send+Notifications

Apparently I need JIRA System Administrators permission, but only the sysadmin user has that and I don't know how to login as the sysadmin... ?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Jason,

You can't set up your own SMTP server in OnDemand, but there's no need for it as JIRA in OnDemand comes set up with an SMTP server already. See here for how to associate a notification scheme to a project.

Hi, if you are using OnDemand, according to https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/AOD/Restricted+Functions+in+Atlassian+OnDemand it's not configurable.
