Closing a Defect Ticket

Prem Sharma May 3, 2019

Hello,

Perhaps it's just been a while since I last used JIRA. When closing a JIRA ticket, the "Resolution" under status remains as "Unresolved".

How do I go about ensuring that this changes to resolved?

I hope to hear soon. Thank you

Hello @Prem Sharma

Here's a step by step guide to setup the workflow transition screeen to update the resolution.

i really dislike that by default every workflow you create does not requiring Resolution to be set. :-(

Ultimately you need to update your workflow to do one of two things:

  • add a screen to the transitions to Done (or similar ending status) that includes the Resolution field. Also set a Validation to require that field be set on that transition. This option allows the user to select the Resolution.
  • add a post function to the transitions to Done (or similar ending status) that sets the Resolution to Done (or whatever you want). This creates a static resolution.

In either case be sure to add a post function to clear the Resolution on any 'reopen' transition.

Hi,

Thank you for your response. I have been doing exactly that, but strangely no luck in closing the ticket fully. All tickets, no matter the status, shows up in the "Show Open Issues" on the left
