Check-list on tasks description. Is it possible?

Is it possible to add the checklist to the task description?

I want to add the finished points working on the task.

There is some app on Jira, I've used it before, but sometimes the app simply does not load the info, it is just awful.

Maybe the checklist is a bad idea at all, and the easiest way is to split the tasks into separate ones by linking them.

Kindly share your thoughts.

Hi @Max ,

While I would usually suggest using Sub-tasks to track minor tasks under a task, but if that doesn't work for you, you can try to use the "status" in the description too. Adding a image below for reference:

Thank you @Jehan Bhathena ! I like the last option "Status" It's really cool :)

Am I getting you right? These statuses are just custom for the description, and their creation and naming do not affect the global flow at all. I hope it is so :)

The next question, referring to your screen, I am just wandering.

I don't have this button like you've shown on the screen.

Here is your screen:

555.png

How did you add it here? And what is it for?

This is how I've added the Table on my task's description, kindly have a look:

So I don't get the "Add form" button purpose on your screen. How did you pin it there? It is not so crucial, but it would be great to find the details.

Thank you for your time!

Hi @Max

Glad to know the "status" helps.

The Add Form button that you see on my screen is because of the type of project I'm using, the screenshot is from a JSM project, and yours is a Jira Software one. Although Jira Software has also introduced forms recently I haven't had the chance to try them out yet.

@Jehan Bhathena Sorry, it's me again :)

I just want to clarify this question:

Am I getting you right? These statuses are just custom for the description, and their creation and naming do not affect the global flow at all. I hope it is so :)

Could you let me know? Before I start to use it on my real project?

Hey @Max

The status I've mentioned is an element and not linked to any ticket status.

I could not find much documentation about it except here;

https://support.atlassian.com/confluence-cloud/docs/keyboard-shortcuts-markdown-and-autocomplete/

Use the backslash while the description is in Edit mode ane you'll see this option listed under the various options available.

Hi @Max ,

We're almost there :) - check out the following suggestion in JAC: JRACLOUD-47605 To-do lists (checkboxes) / action items / checklists in text fields
Up until this is finalized and released, I would suggest going with multiple subtasks for each item as this has proved to be the most effective way (at least for me).

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tom

@Tomislav Tobijas _Koios_ Thanks! Am I getting you right?

"Suggestion in JAC" it's the way to connect with the Jira team directly and to initiate some updates.

I am new here, sorry for such a weard question :)

@Max no worries. Community is here just for that - to help out newcomers and to share info, ideas and solutions. And to meet new people too :)

Regarding jira.atlassian.com (a.k.a. JAC) - you can log in there with the same account you're using here, for Community, and then vote (you only have one vote per issue), watch and comment on issues. If you set yourself as a watcher, you'll receive email notifications for issue updates and comments.

On JAC, you can find suggestions for product improvements and reported bugs related to any Atlassian product (so, Jira, Confluence, Jira Service Management, etc.).

Additionally, if you wish to raise a new suggestion or bug, you can reach out to Atlassian Support and they can raise one for you if the request is valid.

Cheers,
Tom
