Changing business project to software project

Deepti Kizhakkeveettil November 12, 2024

Hi,

I want to convert a business project to a software project. I am an org admin/site admin/Jira admin, but the Project type is greyed out in the project settings. Is there a way to convert the project?

Thanks & Regards,
Deepti

Hello @Deepti Kizhakkeveettil

No, you can't convert a project from one type to another in that manner.

Why do you want to convert it? Perhaps the reasons you want to convert it don't actually require that you convert it.

If you determine that the project content truly must be in a Software type or jevt, you will have to create a new Software project and move the issues to that project. Before you do that, check if either the source or destination project is a Team Managed project. Moving data to or from such a project can result in data luss because of the nature of custom fields in such projects

Thank you. The reason was to display the timeline on the confluence page, business project timelines are not getting displayed.

But we tried another workaround by creating plans around this project and displaying the plans instead on the Confluence page.

Thank you for your response.
