I'm reviewing the audit log in Jira (cloud), and I see that some actions were performed by users, but some were performed by JIRA. I know of quite a few actions that are listed as being performed by JIRA, but I know it was a real person (me).
How can I see the name of the person that executed actions in the Jira audit logs?
It looks like this is well-documented, so check if your case is one where the user should be shown as the author or if it displays as 'Jira.' You can find the documentation here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/audit-activities-in-jira-applications/
The documentation mentions a known issue (unfortunately, without a direct link) that might explain this behavior:
There's a known issue which prevents the Author field from displaying the username for changes that were made in the user management pages in Jira cloud products (including changes to users, groups, and application access). For example, events like users being created or assigned to groups won't include the username of the user who made the change.
If this matches your situation, it could explain why you're not seeing the expected usernames.
