Can you update a column of a view-only Table Grid Next Generation

Jira 9.4.3 Datacenter

Table Grid Next Generation 1.13.8

Script Runner 7.8.0

We are trying to have the columns of our Table Grid Next generation Updated with values entered by the user in a Jira customfield.

We keep getting an error that it does not recognize our column IDs.  Is it not  possible to update a view only Table Grid because it is read-only?
