Hi @Ajay Goud Gaddam

You can export all users with their group membership; is that effectively the same thing?

Instructions are below - but see all the details on this help page.

If you're still using the old user management experience...

As an Org Admin...

  1. Go to Jira Settings > User Management
  2. Go to the main User list
  3. Press Export Users
  4. Select to include Group membership
  5. Download the file

If you're using the new user management experience...

As an Org Admin...

  1. Go to https://admin.atlassian.com/
  2. Press Manage Users on any instance
  3. Select the 3-dots icon in the top-right
  4. Select Export Users
  5. Select to include Group membership
  6. Download the file

Let us know if this meets your need!

I don't see any option to export the list of users.... is there any other way?

Hi @Nuno Guerra

That's Jira Server/Data Center, rather than Cloud.

There's no native CSV import for users in Server/DC - you'll need to either...

Not necessarily the same thing no.  Unfortunately when we migrated to the cloud instance a check box was left unchecked and we now have 4,000 groups and we need to delete around 3,900.

We need a definitive list of the groups and trying to sort them from the user export list is a major headache, especially as 1 of our users is a member of 135 groups.

A method to get the groups and delete would be REALLY useful, rather than manually clicking all the groups cc TWELVE THOUSAND clicks and trying not to delete the wrong group.

Hi @Derek_Ebrey

What are the parameters to help identify the Groups to remove?

In terms of removing Groups in bulk - check out...

Is there a way to do this not as a global jira admin, but a project admin?

We had a similar issue on one of the sites we manage. We contacted Atlassian support and they resolved the issue in less than a day. We gave them the list of groups and users to remove, there was a little back and forth verifying the outcomes, but overall the process was painless. This site is on an enterprise plan. Overall it took around 15 minutes of my time.
