Hi,

I have two instances(Dev & Production). I do not want to copy the whole instance to another. I wanted to copy only 3 projects with latest data, configurations from one instance to another. Is there a way to do so?

Regards,

Dev

Hello @Devarajan Mani

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

With a Premium subscription you can create a Sandbox site from your production site. Is your Dev instance a Sandbox?

If so you can use Copying Production Data to Sandbox to copy all or selected projects to the sandbox.

There are limitations in that methodology. For example, the documentation states that data for third party apps is not copied, and Automation Rules are not copied, among other items. There is a link on the above page to another page that goes into more detail about what is and is not copied.

Hi @Devarajan Mani and welcome to the community!

If you're looking to copy specific projects, including their configurations and latest data, from one Jira instance to another, our app Deep Clone for Jira can be an excellent solution.

With Deep Clone, you can easily clone individual projects and select which elements to include in the cloning process. This app allows you to:

  • Copy projects across instances by cloning issues, attachments, comments, and many more specific details.
  • Customize the cloning process, including options for custom fields, issue links, and sprint data.

This method offers precise control without copying the entire instance, ensuring only the needed projects are migrated. You can read more on how to clone projects across Jira Cloud instances here.

Hey @Devarajan Mani, welcome to the Atlassian Community!

In addition to what @Trudy Claspill said, you can also look at plugins like Revyz to clone projects from one Jira instance to another: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228694/revyz-data-manager-for-jira-backup-restore-sandbox?hosting=cloud&tab=overview

Just to be clear, I'm not from Revyz myself. Hope that helps!
