Hi I'm new to JIRA and confluence and have been playing with links between the two.
I'm able to create new JIRA issues and links to them from within Confluence pages, BUT I'm not able to see the links back to the Confluence page from within the JIRA issue.
I'm also not able to add a new link to a Confluence page from within a JIRA issue.
Any suggestions please?
I'm using CLOUD versions of both
Regards
Tony
@Tony Collins, welcome to the Community. Could you share a bit more on how you are attempting to create the link and what you are seeing?
The way it should work is as follows:
Thanks @Jack Brickey, appreciate your response and time
It is the option to select a link that appears to be missing - screenshot shows the options available behind the ellipses on the top right:
However, I created this TN-13 issue directly from a Confluence page, and the link was created in the page no problem, as shown:
It seems almost like my application link is working fine from Confluence to Jira, but not from Jira to Confluence?? Maybe something available it site settings for JIRA ?
Cheers
Tony

project > project setting > Permissions > Link check to ensure you fall into the ability to link w/in the project.

I'm the administrator for the site and the project Jack, so have all permissions.
Could it be related to the fact that I have used a KanBan template for the project at all? Maybe the link to confluence is not included at all within the KanBan template for some reason?
I'll set up a test SCRUM project to see if it makes a difference
thanks again

can you provide a screen shot of the permissions? it won't have anything to do w/ boards as boards are only visual representations of the underlying data. what roles etc. are listed under link permissions? I have never seen this be an issue if permissions are correct. You may wish to reach out to Atlassian Support.
wait, just to be clear are you trying to do this on the board or in the Issue Detail View? Please ensure you are attempting this in IDV.

So, I think I've cracked it, finally -
it seems there are two things at play which are causing my issues here:
1. "Next-Gen" project - being new to Jira, I believe I selected this as part of the initial configuration and set-up dialog. This appears to have a number of new features being trialled, including a 'New Issue View' for software development projects which is very limited in it's options available
2. The 'New Issue View' for software development projects can also be enabled / disabled from within the Jira Labs settings in Personal Settings. For me, this had been set as enabled.
The "Next-Gen" project seems to have this new, limited issue view regardless of the setting within Jira Labs - so cannot be switched away from. Whereas, for 'classic' projects, you can switch the 'New Issue View' on or off within Jira labs.
Therefore my solution is to create a classic software development project, either scrum or kanban - doesn't matter which, and ensure that the 'New Issue View' is disabled within Jira Labs setting ....... phew!!
Thanks for your help, useful to be able to bounce this back and forth!
Cheers

this dang Next-Gen template is killing me. :-( Somehow we need to get this known upfront in questions as there are vast differences which change the answers.

Options I have available are limited - see screenshot:
