Ultimately, I'm looking to be able to add an issue to an epic via the actual epic dialog that comes up when you view an epic.
This functionality exists in earlier versions, but I can't find it in the "new issue view." It was formerly a "+" sign next to the heading for the "issues in this epic" section.
Am I doing something wrong? Do other people see this?
Did this get removed and is being planned to come back in some way?
Thanks for any help folks!
Hello Ra,
In the Next-Gen Projects, when you're viewing the Epic details on the roadmap view, or viewing the epic directly in its own tab there is a new "add child issue" icon under the Epic Name, and an additional "+" option available once at least one child issue has been added to the epic in a "child Issue" pane that is added to the issue details that can both be used to create a new issue in the Epic.
It looks like this:
Is this what you are looking for?

Earl
What about for classic projects? The "new issue view" i'm using is on a classic project type.
Thanks for your help.

Hi Ra,
Thanks for the clarification, and your using the "New Jira issue view for software projects" Jira labs feature, and we are still rolling out that feature and unfortunatly it does not yet have the option to add an issue to the epic from that view, we are tracking this features implementation here:
Currently you would need to create the issue and populate the Epic link field on the create issue screen or drag and drop the issue from the backlog post create to the epic panel from the backlog.
Regards,
Earl
