Can't add any status on a new column in sprint board

Strato Christodulo October 15, 2024

I try to add a new column in a sprint board; however, when I click on + to add a new column the status cannot be selected as it is not existing. Without applying any status the new added column doesn't not appear in the active sprint board.

thanks for helping out.

Hi @Strato Christodulo , are you using a company managed project or a team managed project, look to the lower left corner for the answer. In the company managed projects when you add a column you map one or more existing statuses to that column.

Hi @Jack Brickey I looked it up and we are using for this specific project a company managed project. And inspite of using the company managed project I'm unable to map existing statuses. could you know why?

Could you share a screenshot of the column configuration screen under board settings?

Sure...it's in German so if you need one in EN let me know

Hi Strato - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Are you sure you published the workflow that has the new status?

Agree, I would check the workflow for the existence of the status.

Note, by adding the column you are not adding a status. You must first add the status in your workflow and the drag it to the new column.

thanks for the hint ... I will forward this issue to our editor asking to create a new status in the workflow.

Did you just create this status? If you did, did you make sure to Publish the update to the workflow? You won't see the new status, or be able to map it to a column, until it's published.

Otherwise, please give us some more context and we can surely figure this out :D
