Can't access my project anymore - deleted/permissions changed

Daniel Calota November 1, 2024

Hi!

I realized that somehow I managed to get myself into the premium trial. Today I realized that I could not see my project. When trying to access the actual https address/namespace of my project, it said :

This project is unavailable

They may have been deleted or your permissions may have changed.

So I found some similar issues, and found out that changing back to the free version might do it, but it didn't. What's the matter?

Must say that the trial started on 6 of October and realized on 1 of November the whole situation because haven't accessed my account until then.

Hello @Daniel Calota

It sounds like you still have Jira Administrator permissions, correct? If you are able to look at the Trash and Archived lists for Jira projects then you must have Jira Admin access.

Are you also the Organization Administrator for the organization under which your site exists?

Do any other users have access to your site/product?

Was the project a Team managed project or a Company Managed project?

If it was a Company Managed project, another place you can check to see if it still exists is to look at the Permissions Schemes page.

https://yourBaseUrl/secure/admin/ViewPermissionSchemes.jspa

This will show all the Permissions Schemes and the Company Managed projects associated with each one. If the project still exists, either in the Trash or in the Archive, it will still show here associated to its Permission Scheme.

If the project was Team Managed, then it won't show up in the Permissions Scheme page.

Is it possible that somebody else with access Jira Admin access to the instance deleted your project?

Hi @Daniel Calota

Moving to Premium doesn't change the permissions. The permissions you've created are still the same.

Premium allows you to manage permissions, add/create new ones, or create a permission scheme.

Check if the project is in the trash.

Go to permission schemes ->  check the permission being used by that project -> add the browse permission first and check the others.

The thing is that the project is not anywhere to be found, not in trash/archives. It is only "accessible" through its https link https://calotadaniel23.atlassian.net/browse , and that is when I get the message that is unavailable - deleted or permissions have been changed.

Hi Daniel!

Can you access this URL?

https://calotadaniel23.atlassian.net/plugins/servlet/project-config/projectkeyhere/permissions

Add your project key and check if you can access the permissions tab.

Can you access this other URL?

https://calotadaniel23.atlassian.net/jira/software/c/projects/projectkeyhere/issues

Add your project key and see if you can get to the issues tab.

- If you go to projects -> view all projects, does the project show in the list?

Regards

The project is not at projects -> view all projects. For the links mentioned, I do not know its project key.

Hello Daniel,

Regarding your issue of not being able to access your project after reverting from the premium plan to the free plan, here are some areas to explore:

  1. Check the project permissions:
    • Go to the project settings
    • Verify that you still have the "Browse Projects" and "View Issues" permissions
    • If not, add these permissions to your account
  2. Clear your browser cache and log out, then log back into Jira
  3. Check that the project wasn't inadvertently archived during the plan change
  4. Ensure you're still a member of the necessary groups or roles required to access the project
  5. If you're an administrator, check the complete list of projects to see if yours still appears

If these steps don't resolve the issue, I recommend contacting Atlassian support directly, as there may have been a technical problem during the transition from the premium plan to the free plan.

Please don't hesitate to keep me informed if you need further assistance!

Best regards,
Eric
