Can jira force templates based on teams?

We're looking to create a template the developers would fill out for QA testing. Is there a way to force that template to be filled out or added based on status?

Do you want to have a template, for example, for Description field? Or are you asking about some form - "object" separated from fields?

Correct, I would like to add a template but I'm not picky about where it goes.

Hi @Lindsey Stuck ! This is a great use-case. A few questions for you:

• When you ask them to fill out a template, are they doing this in a brand new issue type / card for QA? Or is it part of an existing issue but it is now in some sort of QA status?
• Is this template to be filled out in a comment or description? Somewhere else?
• How formatted is your template?

• It will be an existing issue type in a specific status
• No preference on where it's filled out. Just that it's required before a specific status change
• Formatting would be just a bulleted list
