Can I archive or hide completed epics on the roadmap?

We are using the roadmap-view in a next-gen project to keep track of general progress on epics. As we move on, new epics are added while others become completed. Doing so, we run the risk of ending up with a huge list of mostly completed epics in a couple of months: we wan't to keep the roadmap view clean.

Is there a way to archive or hide selected epics on the roadmap? Removing (deleting) them is not an option.

Posting this question, I was provided a suggested related topic that seems to answer this question. It looks like development on this issue is in progress at this time:
https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-17996

@Laurens Van Lieshout  is there any update on when this fix will be completed?

Like Mark Wickens likes this

is it still in development @Admin

I see this question repeated over and over, without any answers... Atlassian is awfully quite about it too...

go to: Timeline > click: View settings > mark: Hide all completed Epic issues

I had the same issue, since closing the epics didn't remove them from our backlog.

But epics have their own "Marked as done" state (can't understand why), which you can set on the backlog.

  1. Navigate to your backlog.
  2. Select the Epic tab on the left.
  3. Select the dropdown arrow and choose "Mark as Done".
  4. Now the epic is done and does not appear on the roadmap.

@twb this was very useful thank you - I found that I also had to click on view settings (Top right of roadmap) and select hide all completed Epic issues - There is also an option for displaying epics that have been closed in the last x months

This is the answer.

I had the same issue, I solved it a minute ago.

  • created a classic software project and added the Beta roadmap
  • added an extra epicclosed status
  • updated my board filter with: ... AND status not in (epicclosed) ...
  • now I can put my epic in this new status and it dissappears from the board + roadmap
  • maybe this can be automated also but this is not needed for me
