Burnout chart custom field

yxh November 21, 2019

In the burndown chart, only three fields can be used to count Sprint. Our team wants to customize some fields to count the burndown graph. How can I add a custom field for the burndown graph?

The burndown charts use the "estimation statistic" selected in the board configuration.  That statistic must be a simple number (you can't do the required arithmetic on non-numbers), so the selection you are seeing are the three purely numeric fields you have in your system.

Time estimates are one field that's always there, Story points is the second that I would expect (Jira Software creates it by default, but it can be removed or renamed), and your third one is some other numeric custom field your admins have added.

If you want to see and use other fields there, then get your admins to add custom fields of the type "number"

thank you for your reply. After the custom field is successful, how does it achieve statistics? If I want this field to count the time spent by all members, how can I make this field correspond to the time spent by members?

Burndown is simple - you select a metric in the board config (time estimate, story points, or any other numeric field), and then burn down on cards positions on the board - last column is "done", others are not.

Hello,

this is still relevant "If you want to see and use other fields there, then get your admins to add custom fields of the type "number"" ?

If yes where and how we can add a custom field ?

Thanks

Admin -> Issues -> Custom fields - the admin can click "add" and they'll get asked about field type.  Select number or numeric and fill in the rest (name etc)

Thanks @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- !

We create a custom "Number field" in admin panel but itsn't display in "Estimation fields" for the burdown chart.

There is other things to do ?

The select list in Board Configuration -> General lists all numeric fields in the system.  But you should check that the field appears on stories in the project (try creating a new story level issue, it should ask for your numeric field)

Hi @yxh

Try our Great Gadgets app. It includes a set of gadgets (including Sprint Burndown/Burnup, Release Burndown/Burnup, Team velocity, Kanban velocity/throughput) that can be configured to calculate by any custom numerical custom field not only by Story Points or Original Time Estimate.
