In Jira, my company wants to use the Burndown Report to track the progress of our development team during an active sprint. Currently, the board uses the "Done" status to reduce velocity and display progress. However, we need multiple statuses to also be recognized as "Done" (e.g., "QA Verified," "UAT Verified," etc.).
I attempted to resolve this by modifying the workflow, but it didn’t resolve the issue with the Burndown Report or the Sprint Health gadget. Additionally, the Sprint Health gadget seems to have incorrect filters. For example, issues in the "To Do" status are appearing under "In Progress." They also do not want to move the statuses under Done in the board because we cannot read the statuses in each card.
I would greatly appreciate your help or advice on resolving these issues, as changing the workflow didn’t fix the problem.
Hi @jeep_rutter,
The Jira reports and gadgets count as done those issues that have their status mapped to the last column of the agile board.
To fix the problem you should go to your agile board configuration (at Columns section) and map all your done statuses ("QA Verified", "UAT Verified", "Done") to the last board column. This should fix the reports, but unfortunately may end-up in also removing some columns of the board (the ones that had "QA Verified" and "UAT Verified" statuses before), which you may not like...
Another solution would be to search on Atlassian Marketplace for a plugin that provides gadget or reports that allow specifying custom done statuses.
In you want to try an plugin, a good option would be the Sprint Burndown Burnup Chart gadget offered by our Great Gadgets app, which allows you to specify what statuses to be considered as done. This should do the trick for you without altering the agile board.
The same app offers additional gadgets such as Velocity Chart gadget or Release Burndown Burnup Chart gadget that also allows specifying custom done statuses. So you'll have complete charts / reports for your Scrum project based on custom statuses.
If you have any questions about these gadgets, feel free to contact support@stonikbyte.com at any time.
Thank you,

Thank you! I will look into that! We tried to move the statuses into the different columns and the business didn't like this because the status did not show up in the card to help identify the status of each card. So, we needed to go a different way. I'll look into the gadget you suggested. Thanks again!

Hello @jeep_rutter
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Concerning the Burndown chart, issues will be burned down only when they transition to the statuses mapped to the right-most column on the board. It doesn't matter what the status actually is, only that it is mapped to the right most column. The only way to change the burndown is to change the status/column mapping.
Concerning the Sprint Health gadget, that gadget groups the issues into 3 sections:
- issues in statuses mapped to the left-most column of the board.
- issues in statuses mapped to every column excluding the left-most and right-most columns
- issues in statuses mapped to the right-most column.
It does not consider the Status Category of each status, only how it is mapped to a column.
So, the only way to impact those reports is to change the mapping of Statuses to Columns.
If that is not an option then you would need to look at third party reporting apps that give you versions of those reports that are more configurable.

Trudy or anyone, do you have any suggestions on a gadget that might be a good replacement for the Sprint Health gadget? Thank you!

Hi @jeep_rutter ,
I can suggest the app I developed - Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective - to you. It has a different view, but the amendments you made to the workflow will work with the app. For example, Completed Scope will show all the issues that have green stasuses (Done category). Additionally, you can construct any custom JQL you want there. For example, you can even have two different bars with two different done statuses - one for 'Done' and another for 'QA Verified'. You can display it across various periods - sprints, months, quarters, half-years, or years. Moreover, you will see everything on one screen, without needing to navigate to see the issues comprising one bar or another.
If you need stastics, you can also get it here:
Best regards,
Alexey
