Bulk Upload of stories to Jira using csv

Michael.Sly April 30, 2024

We were notified at our company that support for bulk uploading of stories to Jira using a csv file will no longer be supported by Atlassian beginning June 30th, 2024. This capability is used widely across our Technology organization. Will there be/is there an alternative approach offered to complete bulk uploading?

Hello @Michael.Sly

Welcome to the Atlassian community.

CSV import will still be supported, but will be accessible only to Jira Admins, I believe. And the interface is changing. The message that pops up within the product references this page.

The method described in this document will apply to all project types, not just Business/Work Management projects.

Does you company leverage the import option available to non-admin users through the View All Issues page?

Thanks Trudy. Unfortunately the bulk upload utility was used by a large number of development teams within Technology, and we were told that it will only be available to system admins like you said. It doesn't look like our company has activated the View All Issues page. Would that be considered an alternative approach to bulk uploading using a csv file?

@Trudy Claspill  is this upcoming change (where only admins can import using a csv) for Data Center as well or only Cloud?

Could someone point me into the direction where this information is coming from? Like a link or something. I seem to be unable to find something via google regarding a change to csv imports.

@Michael.Sly The View All Issues page is not something that has to be activated. It is available by default under the Filters menu in Jira Cloud.

That is the page from which general issue search filters can be created and executed. It is also where end users have been able to access the Bulk Upload from CSV option.

@Matt Parks I have not heard that this change is affecting Data Center.

@Michael Wohlgemuth _Wolge_ For Jira Admins, there should be an announcement appearing in the Settings > System > External System Import screen.

I've been advised by our tools team that any form of bulk uploading from a csv file will no longer be supported by Atlassian. They said that the ability to import issues from the View All Issues / list view is the same utility that we've used all along, and that it will only be available to system admins. If anyone feels this is incorrect, please respond. Thanks!
