Hello, does Atlassian backup our data at regular cadence? If yes, can you please provide more details? What is backed up? Where is it backed up and how often etc.
You can learn more about Atlassian's backup program here. They do a daily backup but that is so they can do DR if needed, this backup is not available to customers. There is an EAP for a backup and restore feature which should be available in Q4 2024 based on Atlassian's public roadmap. There are also apps in the Marketplace that can backup and restore your instance.
Hello @Vaijayanthi Murali ,
Atlassian allows you to automatically back up your Jira data at any time by expoting your data from Jira Cloud. Hovewer, if you need to backup attachments, avatars and logs, you can export these data every 48 hours. Learn more about Atlassian backups here: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/export-issues/
Another option can be a third-party backup tool. For example, GitProtect backup & Disaster ecovery software for Jira Cloud, JSM, and JWM. With this solution you can scedule and automate your backups and easily monitor backup performance with data-driven dashboards, Slack or email notifications. Among other features that GitProtect provides are multi-storage compatibility, full data coverage, replication between storages, unlimited retention, ransomware protection, and restore & Disaster Recovery technology. Moreover, if your organization uses Bitbucket, GitHub or GitLab, you can easily back up your entire DevOps infrastructure.

Thank you @John Funk
If you want to learn more about what Atlassian does to address any disasters initiated on the Atlassian side, please reference this document -
Atlassian states how they use the infra level backups they take every day - "We don’t use these backups to revert customer-initiated destructive changes, such as fields overwritten using scripts, or deleted issues, projects, or sites. To avoid data loss, we recommend making regular backups. Learn more about creating backups in the support documentation for your product."
Per the shared responsibilities that a customer has when using Atlassian Cloud products, it is the customers responsibility to take backups among other things. This is no different from other SaaS applications such as O365, SFDC etc.. https://www.atlassian.com/whitepapers/cloud-security-shared-responsibilities
I am from Revyz, where-in we have built apps that help you automate backups and provide for granular recovery of data. Happy to help with additional questions on this topic. You can also read about our apps here.
Thanks
