Automated sub task creation doesn't work when assigned users are inactive

Hi Jira Community,

We have a project to manage our compliance obligations which generates sub task tickets every month. These tickets can be assigned to one or multiple users in a user field called "control performers".

We have identified that if a user becomes inactive then those sub tasks will not be created by the automation rule even if there are active users also assigned.

Is there a way to automate removal of inactive users from the control performers field or ensure that the ticket is still created even if there are inactive users assigned?

Thanks in advance.

Dan

Hi @Dan J

Using jira automatoin, for each sub-task you are creating you can check whether the user is active with smart values: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/jira-smart-values-users/

While you go through your tasks, grab each user check whether the value is active or not.  If it's not active you will leave the ticket unassigned or assign it if it's active.

Thanks Fabian,

I have asked my Jira admin to see if this solves the problem and will report back.
