Automated Checklist

Hello,

Im looking to set up some automation that would essentially spot check certain fields in Jira to see if there was some info. If there is, it would check that item off in the checklist, if there isnt, it would leave it as to do.

The trigger would prob be when an issue is updated?

So basically when an issue is updated we check a subset of fields to confirm they arent empty, if theyre not, update the checklist item to Done basically.

I assume a variable would need to be in play to store what is and isnt actually updated and adjust the checklist accordingly? Do any of yall have experience with setting this kind of thing up?

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Travis Hill

When you note a "checklist", are you using:

  1. the built-in, checklist custom fields,
  2. the new "action items" feature for the Description field, or
  3. a marketplace addon for checklists?

The first one can be set / cleared easily with an automation rule, as can the third one for many marketplace addons (just check the vendor documentation).  The middle one for "action items" cannot be set / cleared by automation rules yet.

Kind regards,
Bill
