Auto Assign and Skip People on Vacation

I want to round robin auto assign tickets to users in a group.  When a user is on vacation I want the auto assignment to skip the user and assign to the next user in the group.  So I would also need to know how to track each user’s vacation time so the auto assignment can check against the vacation time.

Can anyone tell me how to do this in Jira?

Sorry for necro posting, but resolution's Out of Office Assistant will do just that so I thought it might be interesting for anybody else getting here from a Google search to solve that problem.

In Out of Office Assistant, the flow is essentially the following:

• Each user in the group creates an Out of office rule and appoints all other group members as coverers
• When a user goes on vacation, the rule is activated.
• Whenever the auto assign picks an unavailable user, the app will reassign the issue to another user from the group in round robin.

There are multiple options for activating rules:

• scheduling each vacation with a different rule
• activating and deactivating a single rule manually
• connecting with google calendar or Outlook via Zapier
• or using the Slack app to sync the Slack status with the availability in Jira.

natively Jira does not consider individual user’s work schedule. You would need an app like Tempo to allow you to track user’s PTO.
