Assistance Needed: Skipping Verification Code for Test Gmail IDs

shivani_shirguppi January 6, 2025

We have created Gmail IDs and granted them Atlassian access for testing Jira. However, when attempting to log in with these IDs, the system requires a verification code. Since these accounts are shared with other users for testing purposes, we would like to bypass this verification step to streamline the process.

Could you please advise on how to disable this requirement for these test accounts or provide an alternative solution?

Hello, @shivani_shirguppi

If you are getting a request for 8-digit code sent via email – this is a "new" security measure by Atlassian (read: nobody has asked for this!) that cannot be disabled.

Apparently every time a change is detected in IP, browser and who knows what else – this 8-digit code will be requested.

The only workaround is apparently to enable the real 2FA, and in your case somehow share it among the testers.

Hello, Good day. Are these users asked for a two-factor authentication ?
