Hi all,

I am a product owner with a team that implementing story points for the first time. While story point calculations for an entire team in a sprint is useful, understanding an individuals story point average over multiple sprints in order to estimate and plan/schedule work in advance, is not convenient/possible.

Are there any 3rd party plug ins available that can easily/conveniently calculate and display story points i. assigned per sprint to individuals and ii. completed per sprint by individuals on the team?

Thanks

Alyn

Hi @Alyn Watkins

Welcome to the Atlassian Community !!

You can have a look at the app we developed

Capacity Planner

The app allows to store the capacity for individual users and save as templates. which can be mapped to a sprint to track the allocation and remaining story points / time per user. Do try it out.

Hi @Alyn Watkins

welcome to the community!

If you're open to solutions from the Atlassian Marketplace, this would be trivial to do using the app that my team and I are working on, JXL for Jira.

JXL is a full-fledged spreadsheet/table view for your issues that allows viewing, inline-editing, sorting, and filtering by all your issue fields, much like you’d do in e.g. Excel or Google Sheets. It also comes with a number of advanced features, including support for (configurable) issue hierarchies, issue grouping by any issue field(s), sum-ups, or conditional formatting.

With these, you can build a view like e.g. this in just a couple of clicks:

storypoints-per-assignee.gif

As @Bill Sheboy hinted at, there's a lot of things to consider when looking at an individual's story points, so whatever tool you end up with, definitely use this data with caution.

Any questions just let me know,

Best,

Hannes

Hi @Alyn Watkins -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Before trying what you ask, I suggest meeting with your team's scrum master or agile coach to describe the problem you are trying to solve, and to learn some alternative approaches.  That may help the team be more effective using Scrum, sprints, and story points, in general.  The alternative could incentivize less collaboration, siloed work, and more focus on individuals and story points rather than delivering the value you may want as a product owner.

Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks, Bill.

All the above has been conducted over several months after I was employed to either improve or implement agile processes. The team lead/scrum master and team individuals are all in agreement that team plus individual performance should be investigated further to understand group and individual strengths and weaknesses.

Kind regards,

Alyn

@Alyn Watkins , Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

There are several apps on the Atlassian Marketplace that can help you with this. One of the most used is EazyBI.

Search the Atlassian marketplace for apps that offer the feature by accessing the link: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/

EazyBI provides online evaluation dashboards, see here: https://eazybi.com/accounts/1000/dashboards/5956-sprints-overview

See an example report that you can build in EazyBI similar you've described.
