Approval using AD Manager field

Hi there,

Is there a way of triggering approval to a users manager based on who is the manager in Active Directory?

We use Atlassian Access for SSO/MFA and user provisioning. OKTA offers the manager field but we can't seem to use it.

Ideally this is possible without paying for an addon as we're already paying extra for Atlassian Access to better integrate with AD.

which can sync attributes from AD to custom fields, which can be used for approvals.

Thanks for your response. I'll look at the addon.

Very disappointed that this doesn't seem possible in the base product? Are there any workaround you're aware of without paying for additional addons?

You can automate routing of approvals to managers from /Okta using the Multiplier plugin on Jira cloud:
