Hello @barry_pulliam

Can you provide more information and perhaps some screen images to illustrate your problem?

Are "done" and "close" Status values for your Feature issue? Or does "close" mean something else to you?

This is the feature that we are unable to close

At the top of the page there is nothing that will allow me to close this feature/story. I am the admin to this project.

Are you using Jira Cloud or Jira Server/Data Center? If your instance URL is similar to https://yourCompany.atlassian.net then you are using Jira Cloud. Otherwise you are using a self-hosted Jira product (Jira Server or Jira Data Center).

If you are using a self hosted product, can you tell us the version of the product? That should be shown in a footer at the bottom of the screen.

Are you an Administrator for the Jira system?

I believe that your Jira Administrators have removed the Status field from the issue display. However, I think the pull-down labeled 0 - Discovery is the feature you would use to set the status of the issue.

To confirm you should check with the administrator of your project or your Jira Administrators.

We are a user community here, so we don't have access to your Jira instance. Only your Jira and Project Administrators can authoritatively answer your question.

We are using a self-hosted Jira product. The version # 9.2.0. I am the administrator for my project. So based on what you are saying, I need to have a conversation with my Jira administrator. Ugh not sure who the Jira administrator is...oh well!

Is Feature a new issue type in your project? Are you not already aware of the workflow for the Feature issue to know how it flows through Statuses and what the final "closed" status is for that type of issue? As the administrator of the project that information should already be available to you. If Jira Administrators are making changes to your project issue types or workflows within informing you, that is an issue you should address with them.

As an administrator for the project you should be able to go to Project Settings and at least view the Workflows used for issues in the project. Viewing the Workflow used for the Feature issue type should provide a clue as to what the equivalent of "closed" is for the Feature issue type. Statuses that show as Green in the workflow are the done/closed statuses.

If the Workflow for the Feature issue type has a prescribed path you may need to change it through some intermediate statuses before you can select the "closed" status equivalent.

You should be able to select the Status values from the button/pull-down labeled 0 - Discovery. That button/pull-down will give you a list of Status to which the issue can be changed based on its current status.
