Advanced Roadmap hierachy - how to use issue links

Hi

I do have a business project with its goals (Businesss Goal 1)in Jira and some of its tasks are descriebed in another project.

The tasks that are in another project have already Epic link to another business goal (Business Goal 2) . So basically the task contributes to 2 different business initiatives

The Adv.Roadm. project with Business Goals 1 has hierarcy Initiative-Epic-Task-Subtask.

Jira is version 9.12, Data Center version

I cant show the tasks as part of Business Goal 1, because there task already have epic link to Business Goal 2.

I tried to define the additional link usin dependencies in AR configuration, but it wont show in the plan, the tasks are still in Issues without Parent part.

Any suggestions what could be wrong with that approach? Suggestions and links to tutorials are welcomed.

Hi @Toomas Adson

Jira Advanced Roadmap (Plans) parent child relation doesn't work with issue links, only parent child relation.

You setup can't work as you want as a task can only have a single parent.

So you might need to use the issue type higher in the hierarchy.

You can then set parent link to the initiative in the hierarchy.

Jira portfolio works as 1 to many, topdown and bottom up many to one. Many ot many is not feasible.
