Adding a dynamic filter to Jira dashboard

Shiyao Ling July 10, 2024

Hi all,

We want to create a dashboard with a project filter/dropdown menu, that way we can use it to see the status detail of each one of our projects without having to replicate it every time.

I know this has been asked many times in the past, seems like there is not a free/built-in function that allows for this type of dynamic filtering on the dashboard, I want to confirm this is still the case? And the popular options out there seem to be Quick Filters or Rich Filters?

Thanks,

Shiyao

I might be a bit biased here, but Rich Filters by Appfire would be able to help with your request here!

  • Quickly switch between projects using a single dashboard with dynamic filters, saving time and effort.
  • Maintain a consolidated view of all project statuses, ensuring easy access to critical information and streamlined monitoring.
  • Avoid the hassle of replicating dashboards for each project, simplifying management and reducing redundancy.

Why don't you try Rich Filters for 30 days for free? If you have any questions, you can reach out to us any time during your trial and we'll help you achieving your goal.

Hey @Shiyao Ling,

I am Marlene, product manager of Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards.

Indeed our app enables you to add dynamic filters to your dashboard, called Quick Controller gadget, to your Jira dashboards.

Benefits of our app are:

  • Easy on-boarding: The name and the design of our Quick gadgets, resemble the Jira standard gadgets, so it's easy to understand how to rebuild your current dashboard.
  • Any Jira user can configure the gadgets on their dashboards. There is no global configuration by an admin needed, since it can be done on the dashboard individually.
  • We provide a great flexibility in how you let your Quick Controllers interact with the gadgets on your dashboard. You can add multiple controllers and decide individually, which gadgets should communicate with each other.
  • And of course we offer a variety of powerful and advanced Jira dashboard gadgets :)

You can check out Quick Filters for Jira Dashboards on our demo dashboards without installation.

You would need an app in order to do this. I can recommend Custom Charts, it has a simple query gadget that can be added and linked to the charts which allows you to select different fields to filter on. There are also other apps in the Marketplace that can do this.

@Shiyao Ling You might try a 2 dimensional filter gadget.
