Theresa Morse February 1, 2021

When I export a item with a table in description to MS WORD.. see table but in MS EXCEL see text

In word

ABCMedicalMonthly
efgMembershipMonthly

In  Excel

||Report Name||Category||Frequency||
|abc|Medical|Monthly|

|EFGMedical|Monthly|

Does anyone know how I can export to excel and view in table format

Hey @Theresa Morse

Taking a punt here as to the method you are using, along with your jira environment (server or cloud) and your desktop type (PC, Mac etc).

Using JIRA cloud

If you have found all of your issues via an issue search, you can select the fields you are after and export using the Export Excel (current fields) option.

By rights, that should export in a CSV function nicely for you. However if that is going all weird in excel, these are 2 options that may help you out.

Excel split text into columns

1. In Excel - Split text into columns with the convert text to columns wizard https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/split-text-into-different-columns-with-the-convert-text-to-columns-wizard-30b14928-5550-41f5-97ca-7a3e9c363ed7

HTML copy and paste 'hack'

1. Use the Export HTML report (current fields),

2. Open the HTML File

3. Copy the table

4. Paste into Excel

I've used that method before when the standard ones weren't playing nice :)
