I may be wrong but according to the documentation for OnDemand the activity bar should show at the bottom of the screen. I'm on trial for Jira onDemand and unable to find the activity bar; much less Google apps integration icons.

Based on my research, this is a known issue if you are using JIRA OnDemand only. You could watch the feature request for further updates.
