Active / Passive Jira System - Licensing?

Dear all,

if i want to set up an active /passive jira system, where the database is in a metro-cluster and only one jira instance is active, how many licenses do i need to implement this setup? I guess, i only need one license, because only one machine is online. Is this correct?

Hi Dirk,

Just the one license would be needed as you can use a free developer license for the standby. Have a look at http://www.atlassian.com/licensing/purchase-licensing#licensing-9 for details:

"Developer licenses can also be used for non-production installations of our software deployed on a cold stand-by server."
